A little bit of Broadway is about to be brought to the BHS stage with Disney's Beauty and the Beast, showing on April 26 & 27, May 2-4 at 7:30 pm, and April 28 and May 5 at 4:30 pm. This classic story was made famous by the 1991 Disney film is even more spectacular live, with six songs not seen in the movie. With a cast of over 60 talented singers and dancers, five skilled directors, and an efficient crew, this show will certainly be a standout.  The beloved tale you know and love will be exactly as you remember it - and more. This whimsical fairytale is set in rural France, focusing on a book-loving brunette named Belle who dreams of adventure. However, the huntsman Gaston and his sidekick have different plans for her future. When Belle sacrifices her freedom to save her father, she finds herself forced into the company with the ferocious master of an enchanted castle - the Beast. With a charismatic candle stick and a talking teacup, she finds that perhaps she can learn to love something different than what she had planned. For three months, the cast and crew have been working tirelessly on the show. In order to perform a musical, the cast must learn and perfect 12 songs, along with complex choreography and acting to go along with.

"The main thing is the level that we strive for. Our end goal is Broadway quality. We push ourselves further than other schools," Said director Michelle Holowicki.

The crew must provide the show with light, costumes, props, sets, and more. To help support the program, everyone involved sells advertisements to local businesses and sells tickets to friends and family. The devoted directors who invest so much energy into these shows manage to pull every chaotic aspect together in time for the performances.  With all the time and effort these students contribute, a positive, tight-knit family is bound to form.

"The best part of participating in this show is being able to meet new people that I wouldn't have met otherwise, as well as being part of something bigger than myself," Sophomore and set coordinator Alexandra Perry said.
