Can Food Drive Takes Over BHS

BHS students bring in canned food for their fourth hour. The winning class get a pizza party.

National Honors Society is hosting the food drive again this year. It began Nov. 7th. This year just like the other years we are collecting for Gleaners food bank. You can bring your cans of food to your fourth hour class. Whichever fourth hour class is lucky enough to win, gets a pizza party. Last year Teacher Kelly Armstrong’s fourth hour class came in first place, with a little help from Lynette Daig.

“I love the food drive but I don’t have a fourth hour. Last year, instead of making a donation by myselfArmstrong’s class made an honoring member and added my contribution into their donation” said Lynette Daig.

Daig is looking for a fourth hour class this year that she can give her contributes to so if you’reinterested , please let her know. Students also receive one raffle ticket for each three cans or one dollar donated, students will write their name on the ticket and will be asked to place them in KimChristiansen’s mail box.

Christiansen is asking all students NOT to bring ramen noodles this year; unfortunately they will not be counted. Teachers have a list of most wanted food items that are wanted this year so make sure to ask them if you’re unsure before you bring the food into class. The raffle tickets will be drawn in a raffle and other students not from the winning class fourth hour class will be able to win other cool prizes.

There will be a collection box in each teacher’s room that has a participating fourth hour, be sure to drop your cans off there. Last year BHS had a “food fight” with Howell High School to see which school could donate the most food to Gleaners food bank. Of coarse BHS won, hopefully we will keep up the hard work we did last year to beat Howell again this year.
