Brighton Area Historical Society Hosts Fourth Annual Cemetery Clean-Up

Volunteers are needed at Old Village Cemetery in downtown Brighton on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brighton Area Historical Society members are asking for volunteers to join them as they host their Fourth Annual Old Village Cemetery Clean-Up on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Old Village Cemetery contains the headstones of Brighton leaders and residents from the 1800s.

The goal of the Brighton Area Historical Society is to have Old Village Cemetery in respectful condition for the veterans buried there this Memorial Day. Veterans of the Blackhawk War, Civil War, Spanish-American Wars, World War I and World War II are part of the rich Brighton history, according to the historical society.

Workers with steel rakes, grass/leave rakes, shovels, axes, branch/brush shears and work gloves are needed.

For more information, contact Brighton Area Historical Society President, Jim Vichich, at 517-304-7722.
