The Livingston County Association of Realtors will collect food for Gleaners at the Mill Pond gazebo and Brighton Kroger on Saturday.

The is one of the main drop-off sites as the Livingston County Association of Realtors hosts its ninth annual β€œFill the Gazebo” food drive Saturday to benefit the Gleaners Community Food Bank.

Local residents are asked to bring nonperishable items to the gazebo or to , another drop-off point, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Cash donations are also encouraged, and for every $1 raised, Gleaners can purchase three meals.

Association Executive Vice President Barb Hess told WHMI-FM, 93.5, that last year's drive collected 7,614 pounds of food that provided 39,000 meals to children, families and seniors who rely on the Gleaners Shared Harvest Pantry. Hess said the drive helps Gleaners prepare for increased need during the summer months when children are out of school and don’t have access to free and reduced-cost lunches.
