Lieutenant Needs a Second Chance

This male Treeing Walker Coonhound is up for adoption at the Humane Society of Livingston County.

I'm a purebred Walker Coonhound who was turned in as a stray. I am estimated to have been born around January, 2010. I was found by some hunters so the staff thinks that perhaps I wasn't a good hunting dog for someone and was turned loose.

I was very skinny when I was brought in and am still afraid of everything. It's sad to think that I'm only a year old and likely have been mistreated and fear even being shown affection from people.

I will take some time to get used to being with a new family once I'm adopted. I promise, though, to be the best dog I can be while I learn to trust again. I also probably need to be house trained and to learn some basic obedience, too.

Some hounds can be quite loud but I haven't made a peep since being brought in. The staff thinks that maybe my last home punished me if I was loud and that I just learned to keep quiet. Hounds tend to be runners so I'll have to have a secure form of containment in my new home. If you just give me a chance you will see what a gem I'll turn out to be.
