Volunteers Needed for Upkeep Efforts for Brighton's Imagination Station

The Imagination Station will be closed for maintenance work on Sept. 14 and 15.

Brighton's Imagination Station will be closed this upcoming weekend while volunteers work to help maintain the play structure.

On Sept. 14, volunteers will be re-sealing the large wooden play structure and teenage and adult volunteers are asked to come help with the effort that will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

"We're not asking for any kids to come because we are re-sealing, so it will be a messy, sticky job," event coordinator Renee Pettingill said.

The re-sealing is part of the "Do Care" plan set by the DEQ, according to Pettingill, and is a bi-annual maintenance requirement to help keep the structure safe.

"By volunteers doing it, we're saving the tax payers more than $8,000," Pettingill said.

Volunteers will be rewarded with an incentive program and rewards from local businesses and all tools and equipment will be provided.

The structure will remain closed and roped off on Sunday, Sept. 15 and will re-open Monday, Sept. 16.
