WHAT: Emily Thompson, Ph.D., [Life Sciences Department] teaches genetics at Washtenaw Community College and will present an informative and compelling talk focused on the rapidly growing interest in DNA testing.

Her talk will include a discussion on what can and can’t be learned from a DNA test – helping to clarify its capabilities and the myriad of ways in which it is now used.

She will also enlighten the attendees about popular sites to seek DNA information such as 23andme, Family Tree DNA and the Genographic Project by National Geographic.

"I'm excited to talk about the DNA test results you can obtain from DNA testing companies, and what these results mean about your ancestors and your health," said Thompson.

The talk is free and open to the public.
