Genoa Township Road Information Open House Plus More Tips for the Week Ahead

Here are five things to help fuel your week in Brighton.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Brighton to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. In the community

Genoa Township will host a Road Information Open House from 5 pm- 7 pm and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Township Hall, 2911 Dorr Road, Brighton. Officials will answer questions and provide information about the road proposal which will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot. All are welcome.

2.  Save the date
The Philip Livingston Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will tour the mansion of former Michigan Governor Fred Maltby Warner on Tuesday, October 1. The carpool will leave from the Meijers Park and Ride lot in Brighton at 9:30 a.m.

3. Get involved
The next meeting of the Brighton Art Guild will feature Todd Burroughs and his
extraordinary art. His attention to detail brings a haunting mood to his subjects, perfect for October. During the business portion of the meeting, elections will be held for the 2014 Board of Directors.

4. For your information
The workshop, presented by Michele Richardson-Bereavement Coordinator for Heartland Hospice in Ann Arbor, will include a group discussion and an opportunity for Q&A. Please pre-register by October 8 by contacting Ron Beford at 810-923-6940.

5. From the community

If your child were kidnapped, what would you tell the police? A child in my neighborhood, Amber Swartz-Garcia, was kidnapped many years ago.  Although several people were considered suspects and a person in jail "confessed," Amber has never be found and there has never been anyone charged with a crime. Please sign -- anonymously is OK -- to ask the police to keep her case open.  Never give up and keep praying.  http://chn.ge/186ATf3 Thank you.  (Please-only supportive comments)
