Brighton Wins Hockey State Championship Again

Bulldogs defeat Detroit Catholic Central 2-1 in Division 1 finals.

Brighton High School defeated Detroit Catholic Central 2-1 to defend its 2012 title in the Division 1 hockey state championship game Saturday at Compuware. Michael Yuhasz scored a goal and assisted on another for Brighton. Lucas Morgan also had a goal and an assist, and Daniel Bosio had an assist for the Bulldogs. Carson Gatt scored for Catholic Central (22-8 overall record). The Bulldogs (28-2-1) won 4-1 against Detroit U-D Jesuit in the semifinals Friday night at Compuware Arena in Plymouth. Brighton defeated Grosse Pointe North 4-3 to win last year's state championship game. The Shamrocks have won seven state titles since 2000, most recently in 2010, according to the MHSAA website. Brighton Hockey Wins Semis, Looks to Defend State Title

Brighton High School will play in the championship game Saturday night.

Brighton High School beat Detroit U-D Jesuit in the semifinals Friday night, advancing to the state championship game. The Bulldogs won 4-1 at Compuware Arena in Plymouth. Brighton will now defend its 2012 title by playing Detroit Catholic Central High School in the championship game Saturday at 6 p.m. at Compuware. The Shamrocks have won seven state titles since 2000, most recently in 2010, according to the MHSAA website. Fans can watch the game live online at MHSAA.tv or listen to it live at MHSAANetwork.com. Brighton Hockey Beats Bay City, Heads to Semifinals

The Bulldogs are looking to defend their state title.

Defending champions the Brighton Bulldogs are looking to recapture the state title this year. The varsity hockey team beat Bay City Central in the quarterfinals Wednesday, 5-3. The team now goes on to play Detroit U-D Jesuit in the semifinals, according to the MHSAA website. The game is scheduled for Friday at 8:30 p.m. at Compuware Arena in Plymouth. If they win, the Bulldogs will face the winner of Friday's East Kentwood vs. Detroit Catholic Central game in the finals. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. at Compuware. Brighton Gymnastics Competes in Team Finals Friday

The competition to win the state title begins at 2 p.m.

The Brighton High School girls gymnastics team will compete in the team state finals Friday at Canton High School. The competition begins at 2 p.m., and you can see Brighton's rotation schedule for the beam, vault, floor and bars at the MHSAA website. According to the MHSAA, Brighton qualified for the state competition by winning its regional competition on March 2 with a score of 140.750. The other 12 teams competing for the state title are Grand Ledge, Rockford, Forest Hills, Freeland, Haslett, Livonia Red, Canton, Salem, Plymouth, Farmington, Birmingham, and Highland Milford. The Well Church Takes on Detroit Red Wings Alums in Charity Hockey Game

The Fourth Annual Hockey Night in Brighton will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Kensington Valley Ice House.

On Saturday night, 17 Livingston County men will strap on their skates and test their puck skills against Detroit Red Wings Alumni members for the fourth annual Hockey Night in Brighton. The men are members of The Well Church in Brighton and the event began as a way to be involved with the community and raise money for local charities.  This year, the money raised will go to benefit Livingston County Shop with a Cop, The ARC of Livingston and new this year, Stiggy's Dogs. "We really wanted to get involved with a veterans organization and we had been hearing lots of great things about Stiggy's Dogs," Scott DesAutel, the event organizer, said. "They rehabilitate rescue dogs and pair them up with veterans that have come back from Iraq and …

Brighton Bulldogs Football and Cheer Registration Now Open

BBFC will host a Meet and Greet on Wednesday in the Hawkins Elementary School cafeteria.

Registration for Brighton Bulldogs Football and Cheer (BBFC) is now open for new and returning players.  BBFC will host a Meet and Greet on Wednesday in the Hawkins Elementary School cafeteria from 7-8:30 p.m. in order to give parents and kids a chance to meet coaches and have questions answered. Each family attending the event will receive the new BBFC Logo vehicle sticker, which will be installed for free.  BBFC has four team levels based on grade level and weight limits.  According to the BBFC website, the price to play football at the freshman, JV and Varsity levels costs $265 per player. Brighton Hockey Wins Regional Final

The team heads to the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Brighton's varsity hockey team won the regional title Saturday. The team beat DeWitt 9-1. The Bulldogs now move on to play Bay City Central in the Division 1 Quarterfinals Wednesday, according to the MHSAA website. If they win, the Bulldogs will face the winner of Wednesday's Utica Eisenhower vs. Detroit U-D Jesuit game in the semifinals on Friday. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday. Other teams in the running are Plymouth, Detroit Catholic Central, East Kentwood and Muskegon Reeths-Puffer. Do you have any photos of the game? Brighton Hockey Competes in Regional Final Saturday

The Bulldogs will take on DeWitt High School.

Brighton High School's varsity hockey team is headed to the regional final on Saturday. The bulldogs play DeWitt at 6:55 p.m. at Summit Arena, 9410 Davis Highway in Dimondale. Brighton has already beat Haslett and Jackson to advance to the finals. If they win, the team will head to the quarterfinals and face the winner of the Bay City Central vs. Swartz Creek game, according to the MHSAA website. Are you going to the game?
