Car Driven by Brighton Woman Drifts Off Road, Striking Guardrail

Catherine Giess sustained injuries from the accident and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital.

A Brighton woman was transported to the hospital on Monday morning after her car struck a guard rail on I-96, according to a release from the Michigan State Police- Brighton Post. Police say at approximately 10:25 a.m., Catherine Giess was driving westbound on I-96 in the center lane when the vehicle began to drift to the right, exiting the roadway and striking the guardrail.  Giess sustained injuries from the crash and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Howell, according to the report. Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Updated: Police Release Name of Driver in Fatal Accident

Treena Jean Beazley of Howell was arraigned Monday morning in Livingston County and released on a 25K bond.

Updated on Monday at 3:30 p.m. The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has released the name of the 32-year-old driver involved in the fatal accident on Friday night. Treena Jean Beazley from Howell was reportedly driving a 1990 Jeep Wrangler and traveling west on Clyde Rd when she failed to stop for a stop sign and crashed her vehicle into a 2011 Dodge Caliber driven by 56-year-old Roger Miles of Fenton. According to a press release, Beazley sustained a minor injury and was lodged in the Livingston County Jail for operating while intoxicated causing death. Beazley was arraigned Monday morning in Livingston County and released on a 25K bond. Police say Miles was transported by Livingston County Ambulance to Genesys Hospital in Grand …

I agree with Paul on all aspects, except the part of more taxes. We already pay the Livingston County Sheriffs Office to do "extra" patrolling in Hartland. When I hear from the deputies themselves that they are sometimes the only patrol unit for the entire County, how do you expect to get additional patrol time in Hartland? Brighton Mom, Daughter Injured When Car Crashes Into Building

The incident happened Sunday in Lyon Township, according to a police report.

A Brighton mom and her daughter were injured Sunday afternoon when their car crashed into the wall of a Lyon Township business. The 16-year-old daughter told deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, who responded to the scene, that her mom suffered a medical emergency and passed out while driving, causing the car to leave the roadway and crash into the building in the 52000 block of Grand River at 2:47 p.m.  The driver, a 49-year-old Brighton woman, was air-lifted to the University of Michigan Hospital in serious condition. The daughter, 16, was transported to Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.  The incident remains under investigation, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

I-96 Remains Closed; Semi Leaks Oil into Pond

A semi truck crashed into a ditch and Pond on I-96 near Pleasant Valley Road. A hazardous material company is on scene to clean oil that has spilled into the water and will begin after the truck is removed.

Michigan State Football Players In Rollover Accident in Brighton

Michigan State Junior William Gholston and Freshman Lawrence Thomas were in a two-car crash on eastbound I-96 on Wednesday afternoon.

Michigan State University football players William Gholston and Lawrence Thomas suffered minor injuries in a rollover accident Wednesday afternoon on eastbound I-96 at Spencer Road in Brighton. According to Sgt. Mark Thompson with the Michigan State Police Brighton Post, the crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. The accident happened when another driver in a white four-door Hyundai sedan in the left lane swerved to avoid an unknown car that crossed into her lane. The woman lost control of her car, then swerved back onto the roadway, striking Gholston, who was driving in the center lane in a 1999 maroon Chevrolet passenger car. The two cars then swerved over to the right shoulder and rolled over, according to Thompson. Thompson said neither driver …
