A 36-year-old man was found lying in the eastbound lane of Patterson Lake Road in Pinckney early this morning after being struck by an unknown driver, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. Police say they received a call at approximately 1 a.m. on Sept. 13 and after arriving on scene found Jeffrey Coffelt in the road, approximately 200 feet east of Cedar Lake Road. Coffelt, who had been walking home after leaving the Damn Site Inn, according to the report, suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle and was transported to the University of Michigan hospital where he is listed in serious condition. A 53-year-old White Lake man died at the scene of a traffic crash Wednesday after he lost control his motorcycle and was ejected into traffic, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. Police say that Christopher Muncy was driving his 2006 Honda motorcycle on U.S. 23, just north of Crouse Road in Hartland, around 10 p.m. on Sept. 12 when he lost control of the motorcycle and was hit by several cars in the left lane of southbound U.S. 23, according to the report. A plane crash at the Brighton Airport occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning killing a female passenger, 56 from Costa Rica, and critically injuring a male pilot, 79, from Brighton, according to Chief Michael O’Brian of the Brighton Area Fire Department. Once crews arrived on scene, it took some time to pinpoint the area at the end of the runway where the single engine plane went down, according to O’Brian. “It’s a very swampy area so we actually accessed it off of Tobia (Rd.),” O’Brian said. Fatal crash on Sunday shut down westbound I-96 for four hours.
Three people died after a multiple vehicle crash, that shut down westbound I-96 for approximately four hours Sunday evening, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s department. According to the report, at approximately 5:20 p.m. Sunday, George Tissen, 54, from Fowlerville crossed the median while driving eastbound on I-96 in Howell striking a 2007 Ford Taurus driven by Legrand Bloomstine, 57, from Wyoming, Mich. Tissen was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, while Bloomstine was transported to University of Michigan Hospital where he was last listed in serious condition. A 22-year-old female driver and her one-year old daughter were ejected from their car during a roll over crash on Friday night, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s office. According to the report, police arrived on scene to find Teddyjo Fliam of Fenton and her daughter thrown from their 1997 Toyota Four Runner. Police say that Fliam’s one-year old daughter was thrown from the vehicle due to her not being properly restrained in her car seat. Fliam’s 4-year-old son, however, was still in the car when police arrived, due to his seat belt. Two riders from Howell weren't wearing helmets and were both critically injured in July 4 crash.
Two Howell residents were seriously injured when their motorcycle struck a minivan on July 4, according to a report from the Michigan State Police, Brighton Post. Witnesses reported that the accident occured when the motorcycle attempted to pass the minivan which was attempting to turn into a private drive on North Territorial Road in Lyndon Township in Washtenaw County . The minivan was occupied by six college interns from the University of Michigan who did not report any injuries, according to the report.
