Lake Trust Credit Union announced plans Wednesday of its plans to build a new $30 million headquarters in Brighton Township. The 17-acre site is located at the corner of Old US-23 and Spencer Road and the construction process could be completed by 2015. The site will include a new 100,000 square foot building designed to more efficiently and effectively join a work-force currently split between old corporate offices in Lansing and Plymouth. Stout Irish Pub puts a slight twist on building the perfect Guinness just in time for St. Patrick's Day.
St. Patrick's Day is the one day a year where everyone gets to be Irish. This St. Patty's Day also marks Stout Irish Pub's 10th Anniversary in downtown Brighton. Stout's celebration will begin on Friday and culminate on Sunday, St. Patrick's Day with plenty of green beer and of course, Guinness, an Irish staple beer. Stout's bartender Catherine O'Brien, who is originally from Ireland, said pouring a perfect glass of Guinness takes two steps: filling the glass a little over halfway, then waiting and watching for the signiture dark beer to settle before filling the rest of the glass. She also adds a special Irish trademark design of a four-leaf clover. The weekend will give way to live music, DJ and dancing, green beer, giveaways, an …

Brighton Florist and Artist Tracey Flanigan talks spring floral trends for 2013.
With a weather forecast of scattered rain and snow showers this week, it might be a little difficult to think spring. That's not the case at Art in Bloom in downtown Brighton, however. The unique florist and art studio is bursting with spring colors and blooms. "This year is more about massing the flowers together rather than a mixed arrangement now," Art in Bloom Owner Tracey Flanigan said. "So a whole two bunches worth of tulips together - or putting things in groups rather than a big spread out arrangement." Flanigan said spring is still all about the tulips, iris and daffodils. Although, she is seeing more and more of a new flower called an anemone. "This is sort of new out there with this black center," she said of the anemone. In …
