2|42 Community Church held its first services in its new Genoa Township building this past weekend.
More than 2,150 people attended 2|42 Community Church over the weekend as the church held its first services in its brand new building, The Common’s, located at 7526 W. Grand River Ave. in Genoa Township. That's almost 1,000 more people that regularly attended while the church was meeting at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts at Brighton High School. Lead Pastor Dave Dummitt said Livingston County needed a third-place, somewhere other than home or work to meet with friends and neighbors. “That's exactly what the church has set out change,” he said in a press release. “We want this to be a church that extends beyond Sunday morning, reaching out beyond our regular church attendees. When Jason Eaton isn’t teaching elementary school children the joys of music in the Hartland School District, he’s enjoying it himself. Eaton is the front man for the aptly named Jason Eaton Band, which formed four years ago. Thanks to Eaton’s magnetic voice and his bandmates’ flawless fusion, the band has already met much success. The title track of their debut EP, Nothing Back, received national airplay and became a top-20 hit in Europe. A nationwide tour, including radio and television appearances, followed. But, while some teachers might exploit such acclaim to impress students and boost their effectiveness in the classroom, Eaton is quiet about his fame.
