DIA Picks Brighton for Inside|Out Program

The city is among 25 throughout Metro Detroit chosen to host outdoor art installations this spring and summer.

The Detroit Institute of Arts has selected Brighton among the 25 Metro area communities that will feature Inside|Out outdoor art installations this spring and summer. "Now in its fourth year, Inside|Out brings reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA’s collection to the streets of metro Detroit," a DIA press release said. "Inside|Out aims to connect with audiences outside the museum walls in places where they live, work and play." Brighton will host Inside|Out summer installations from July until August (see below for a complete list of participating communities); which artworks the cities will host has yet to be determined. Voters Pass Gogh, Tell DIA to Collect $230M from Macomb, Oakland, Wayne Counties

The Detroit Institute of Arts millage passed in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties on Tuesday.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, anyone in the tri-county area can visit the Detroit Institute of Arts for free. The former admission fee has been tossed to the wind thanks to voters in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties passing the Arts Authority Millage, more commonly known as the DIA millage, on Tuesday. Tri-county voters approved a tax of 0.2 mills for the next 10 years to fund the arts authority. “We feel wonderful,” said Annmarie Erickson, the DIA’s chief operating officer. “We want to thank voters throughout the area with coming out for such a strong showing of support. We are so deeply appreciative of the work of our staff and volunteers and everyone who got behind this campaign and pushed it forward to a successful completion.” A Party …

State's beauty is found indoors, too.

"I was at the DIA for the first time last spring and had my camera with me," the Rochester resident said.
