Power Outages Reported in Brighton After High Winds
The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory with wind gusts as high as 45 miles per hour Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
High winds blowing throughout southeast Michigan early Sunday morning have left thousands in Brighton and Brighton Township without power. The worst outages are in Brighton, with more than 2,400 without power, according to DTE Energy. Another 1,400 have been reported to be without power in Brighton Township. DTE Energy estimates that power will be restored Sunday between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southeastern Michigan, including Livingston County, in effect tonight and much of next week, as lake effect snow showers expand across the area. Some in Brighton still were without power on Wednesday, July 20 due to a tree being down on a power line. The subcontractors handling the outages for DTE said they couldn't touch the tree until the tree removers (under contract) got there.
