Healthy living and fitness have always been a passion for Lori Murphy who says she remembers growing up in the 80's and begging her mom to take her to aerobics classes held in the basement of her church. By simply following her path, the 48-year-old personal trainer and owner of My Stronger Self was able to transform her passion into a career of helping others achieve their fitness goals. "I'm just very happy to be doing what I love," she said. Surrounded by photos of client success stories in her recently opened new fitness location, the 48-year-old mother of two is very animated when it comes to talking about fitness and healthy living but humbly avoids talking about herself directly and the impact she has had on so many lives. My Stronger Self moved into their new location on Jan. 2.
My Stronger Self, the fitness center formerly located at 1361 S. Old US 23, recently made a move to accommodate it’s rapidly growing clientele by re-modeling the location at 5283 S. Old US 23 into a bright, usable training center. With large windows letting in natural sunlight and a cardio floor specifically made for safe activity, owner Lori Murphy says the new space was designed to inspire and motivate. Offering a variety of classes that include yoga, step and Zumba, the new facility also offers a separate room for strength training, a crucial component to any weight loss regiment, according to Murphy. “Strength is my passion,” she said. “I always explain, how do we speed up your metabolism when you’re not working out? Nash, the owner of Body N Balance fitness center, will be talking about getting in shape, weight loss and making 2012 your healthiest year ever.
Lisa Nash isn't your typical personal trainer. Less Zumba and more military, Nash is the owner of Dearborn's Body N Balance fitness center. Opened in 2006, Body N Balance was "originally designed for women and those who don’t feel comfortable in a traditional gym," Nash describes on her website. "It’s more of a cardio fitness center geared toward weight loss, endurance and cardio strength." Nash has trained local police and fire personnel, as well as service members in the U.S. Marine Corps. Needless to say, her gym ain't just a place for girls to lose a few unwanted pounds. On Thursday, Jan. 19, Nash talked on Dearborn Patch from 2-3 p.m. with anyone looking to shape up, lose weight, or achieve a specific fitness goal in 2012. Need some …
