Got Michigan? Kroger Joins with Pure Michigan to Push Local Groceries

Through television commercials and in-store promotions, Kroger is bringing Michigan Made products to the forefront of its shelves in response to consumer demand for local products.

Visit the dairy case at any Kroger store in the state and you’ll see the first feature of the company’s partnership with Pure Michigan to promote locally raised and made foods. Kroger brand milk is the star of the newest Pure Michigan television commercial and the first consumer packaged good to be featured in the state’s iconic advertising campaign. As Kroger customer communications representative, Dave Hollandsworth, explains, there are three components to the new campaign: promote local brands through Pure Michigan, work with Michigan State University’s Product Center to bring smaller brands to Kroger shelves and clearly identify those products that are “Michigan Made" throughout the store. “In some cases, I have felt almost a militant …

Farmington Hills Woman Wins Hiller's Recipe Contest

Finalists included residents from Canton, Shelby Township and Brighton.

Farmington Hills resident Joni Pitt's OMG Peach Crostata took top honors in the We’re Cookin’ in Michigan Recipe Contest, held this weekend at the Buy Michigan Now Festival in Northville. The dish was baked with Michigan peaches and Michigan eggs, among other Michigan ingredients, and served with homemade peach ice cream. Pitt found out about the recipe contest from the Hiller’s website, where she often visits to clip her electronic coupons before she shops.  “On a whim, I entered the contest,” said Pitt, founder of OMG! Sweet and Savory. “I’m proof that an amateur cook can win a cooking contest with a delicious recipe.
