Severe Weather Drill Today at 1 p.m.; Oakland County Test Cancelled

The National Weather Service will conduct a test tornado drill Wednesday at 1 p.m. as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The National Weather Service is urging people to practice their tornado safety measures during a special drill Wednesday at 1 p.m. The tornado drill is part of the National Weather Service's Severe Weather Awareness Week. The drill will be held throughout the state of Michigan. According to a release from the organization, the National Weather Service will use its routine weekly test on NOAA weather radio all hazards to simulate an actual tornado waring. Brighton Under Winter Storm Watch

Forecasts call for between 2 and 4 inches in Brighton starting Thursday afternoon. According to a hazardous weather outlook and winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service, a strengthening low pressure system will move into the southern Great Lakes region on Thursday. The heaviest snow is expected Thursday evening, according to the weather statement. Total snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are possible. Visibilities under one quarter mile will be possible Thursday night. Roads may become snow covered and slipperty, affecting the morning commute on Friday.
