Detroit Tigers Clinch AL Pennant, Advance to World Series

The Tigers last played in the World Series in 2006 and took the title in 1984.

The Detroit Tigers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 2006, seeking their first championship since 1984.  The Tigers swept the New York Yankees on Thursday in a 8-1 Game 4 win in the teams' best-of-seven American League Championship Series to advance to the World Series. Game 4 originally was scheduled for Wednesday night, but threats of inclement weather postponed the start time until 4:07 p.m. Thursday.  The World Series begins Oct. 24 in a best-of-seven series against the winner of the National League Championship Series, currently under way between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. Coke.... Delmon is a very, very close second. But for Coke to come in and close like he did to send the Yankees packing, very, very impressive. 3rd MVP is split up between JV, Max, Fister and Sanchez. What dominating performances by our starting 4 horsemen.
