Brighton Roller Dollz Filmed for Possible Quirky Holiday Traditions TV Show

A production team will film Saturday's intra-league bout, 'Twas the Fight Before Christmas,' at Rollerama II.

Brighton, Michigan may soon get a turn in the National TV spotlight, but not because of its long history, its quaint downtown or successful businesses - but because of its roller derby team, The Brighton Roller Dollz. Roller Dollz Vice President Kelly Genei, also known as Murder City Mistress, said the league was contacted by a production team through its Facebook page  about filming the upcoming December bout for two shows centered around quirky holiday traditions for next year. "They came across us on the Internet when we were Santa's security team (at Holiday Glow) and asked if they could come out - so they're coming out," she said. The production team is affiliated with a major cable network. They produce shows which can be picked up …

Brighton Roller Dollz Intra-League teams competed against each other at the New Year Knock Down bout held at Rollerama II on Saturday.

The Brighton Roller Dollz filled Rollerama II's parking to capacity Saturday night for the team's Intra-League New Year Knock Down bout. Split into two teams, The Resolution Wreckers and Midnight Mayem, the Dollz competed against each other in an exhilarating fast scoring match. Each team has four blockers and two jammers on the rink floor at a time. The blockers work to stop the opposing jammer from skating past while simultaneously trying to get their jammer through. Jammers don't score on the first pass, but score points for each pass after. The Resolution Wreckers triumphed over their teammates, winning the bout 148-92. Leading the Wreckers was Roller Dollz Jammer and MVP AlterKATE-shun, who scored 53 points by halftime. The Wreckers …
