Bink & Babs will celebrate its grand opening on Small Business Saturday.
Mark & Barb Binkley, owners of Cooper & Binkley Jewelers, are gearing up for the grand opening of their second downtown Brighton business - this one a fashion boutique. Bink & Babs, located at 334 West Main Street in the former Fabuless Jewelry & Thingz space, will open to the public on Small Business Saturday. Barb Binkley said both her and Mark have wanted to open a boutique for forever after attending jewelry shows and seeing accessory booths here and there. "Honestly it was meant to be the way everything came together," she said. "Main Street is in our DNA - it had to be Main Street for us. We were like Restaurant Impossible on the Food Network - they do it in two days and we did it in two weeks. We're retailers, it's in our core, so …

The Highland grocer helped raise money for the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center Tuesday evening.
Colasanti’s Market in Highland hosted the Bo Schembechler “Heart of a Champion” fundraiser Tuesday evening. Customers purchased special bottles of wine and had the bottles signed by former University of Michigan football players who played for Schembechler. Colasanti’s Market, the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center and Cathy Schembechler put together this charity event to support research that will lead to new methods to prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease. Rob Knue, wine manager at Colasanti’s Market, organized this event for the third time, which ran from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. According to Knue, "for each bottle of wine purchased, the U of M Cardiovascular Center receives $2 per bottle."
