The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday for metro Detroit, including Brighton.
A steady sleet started pelting the ground in Brighton Tuesday afternoon as forecasters continued to call for a nonstop drizzle of snow and other forms of precipitation through Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, 2 to 4 inches of snow, rain and sleet are predicted before Wednesday morning. Wind gusts of up to 26 mph, as well as falling temperatures over the next 48 hours, were also in the forecast. Another 1-2 inches could fall on Wednesday. "A plume of deep moisture will stream across southern Michigan late this afternoon through tonight and then linger into Wednesday," the forecast stated. Forecasters predict 1 to 3 inches of snow Saturday in southeast Michigan.
Make plans for a wintry Saturday in Brighton and Rochester Hills. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Livingston County and all of southeast Michigan for all of Saturday. A cold front pushing through the area will bring scattered snow storms and a total accumulation of 1 to 3 inches, according to the special weather statement. Today's high is expected to be 27 degrees; a low of 11 degrees Saturday night is expected, with a wind chill as low as minus-2 in the forecast. On Sunday, sunny skies are predicted, though the cold temperatures will remain. On Monday: rain is in the forecast.

The City of Brighton prepares for snow removal.
Prepare yourself for snowy commutes Thursday evening and Friday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for parts of southeast Michigan, including Livingston County, beginning Thursday evening and lasting into Friday morning. Up to 4 inches of snow could fall Thursday night, with up to 3 more inches possible Friday morning, the forecasting agency warns. "Visibilities under one-quarter mile will be possible Thursday night," the NWS says. "Roads may become snow-covered and slippery, affecting the morning commute on Friday." Ready for more snow?
Forecasts call for between 2 and 4 inches in Brighton starting Thursday afternoon. According to a hazardous weather outlook and winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service, a strengthening low pressure system will move into the southern Great Lakes region on Thursday. The heaviest snow is expected Thursday evening, according to the weather statement. Total snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are possible. Visibilities under one quarter mile will be possible Thursday night. Roads may become snow covered and slipperty, affecting the morning commute on Friday. Expect snow and a mix of freezing rain Sunday night and into Monday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of southeastern Michigan, including Livingston County. The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday night until 6 a.m. Monday morning. According to the NWS, Michigan can expect to see snow showers changeover to a mix of snow and freezing rain around midnight. Air temperatures are then expected to rise above freezing by 3 a.m., which will then support another changeover to rain. Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possible, mainly on elevated surfaces. Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will be possible in some areas, including Brighton and Hartland. Southeast Michigan—like much of the Midwest—can expect a fresh blanketing of snow Friday. According to the National Weather Service, Brighton and surrounding areas can expect snowfall to start in the morning and continue into the afternoon, with a total accumulation of 1-3 inches expected. The precipitation could continue Sunday, with a 60 percent chance of snow and sleet in the area that evening. Another 1-2 inches of precipitation are expected. The wintry weather system is expected to sweep through the Midwest and head east over the weekend, adding to the tremendous Lake Effect snow seen in New York, Ohio and northern and western Michigan earlier this week.
