Main Street Cheese Market sells more than 50 types of cheese from 12 different countries.  According to Saum, Pecorino with Truffle and Pecorino al Tartufo are her top selling brands. Pecorino, is a family of hard, Italian cheeses, made from sheep's milk. While the market's meats selection is nowhere near that of its cheeses, it still has a variety of almost 20 different kinds.  Saum says the most popular is a high end meat called Prosciutto di Parma - a dry cured ham, usually …

How to Build the Perfect Guinness - Stout Style

Stout Irish Pub puts a slight twist on building the perfect Guinness just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

St. Patrick's Day is the one day a year where everyone gets to be Irish. This St. Patty's Day also marks Stout Irish Pub's 10th Anniversary in downtown Brighton.  Stout's celebration will begin on Friday and culminate on Sunday, St. Patrick's Day with plenty of green beer and of course, Guinness, an Irish staple beer. Stout's bartender Catherine O'Brien, who is originally from Ireland, said pouring a perfect glass of Guinness takes two steps: filling the glass a little over halfway, then waiting and watching for the signiture dark beer to settle before filling the rest of the glass. She also adds a special Irish trademark design of a four-leaf clover.  The weekend will give way to live music, DJ and dancing, green beer, giveaways, an …

Running Lab, formerly Elite Feet, will host an in-store celebration on March 12.

Drivers and pedestrians going down Main Street in downtown Brighton may have noticed a slight change in scenery these last few weeks - Elite Feet is gone, and in its place is Running Lab. It's actually the same store, just with a new name, according to owner Ken Larscheid.  "Everything we do here in the store hasn't changed - it's really just a name change," he said. "The staff is the same, ownership is the same." Larscheid's store is no longer affiliated with Elite Feet, with locations in Lapeer and Port Huron.   "We wanted more control over marketing - basically the way we were being portrayed online - We wanted more control over the website and the Facebook page," Larscheid said.  The store officially became Running Lab at the beginning…
