Brighton Man Charged with Open Murder in Gun Range Shooting Death

Jessce Lincon Stearn could face a murder charge for the shooting death of Charles Robert Kimball.

Updated at 11:45 a.m. Livingston County Prosecutor William Vailliencourt confirmed that he has filed new charges in the shooting death of Charles Kimball. "Based on new evidence, Jessce Lincon Stearn has been charged with Open Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony," a press release from the prosecutor's office stated. "The murder charge carries with it a maximum sentence of life in prison and the weapons charge requires a mandatory two year prison sentence." Man Pleads Guilty in Brighton Gun Range Shooting Death

Jessce Lincon Stearn is charged with manslaughter and felony firearms.

A Brighton man pleaded guilty to manslaughter and felony firearms Friday morning in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Charles Robert Kimball in June 2012 at a Brighton gun range, according to the Livingston Daily. Jessce Lincon Stearn, formerly of Howell, is charged with the crimes for the June 30 incident at the Livingston Conservation and Sports Association gun range. Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte said back in October that Stearn and Kimball should not have been at the gun range that day and that Stearn was holding a replica AK-47 when it discharged and hit Kimball, killing him instantly. Stearn originally told police the gun malfunctioned while he was cleaning the weapon. Bezotte said that Stearn's explanation …

A 19-year-old Jessce Lincon Stearn was charged in the shooting death of Charles Robert Kimball.

A 19-year-old Howell man has been formally charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Charles Robert Kimball in June at a Brighton gun range. Jessce Lincon Stearn was arraigned today on manslaughter and felony firearms counts for the June 30 incident at the Livingston Conservation and Sports Association gun range. Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte said Stearn and Kimball should not have been at the gun range that day and that Stearn was holding a replica AK-47 when it discharged and hit Kimball, killing him instantly. Suspect Arrested in Brighton Gun Range Shooting Death

A 19-year-old suspect has been charged with open murder in the shooting death of Charles Robert Kimball.

A 19-year-old man from Howell has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Charles Robert Kimball, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department. The incident took place last June at the Livingston Conservation and Sports Association in Brighton. Kimball and the 19-year-old suspect should not have been on the premises that day, according to Sheriff Bob Bezotte. When police arrived on scene, they found Kimball had been shot with an AK-47 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
