ReplyYour proposal is anything but common sense. You can't shorten the training time for new officers by inviting another agency to assist. You're comparing apples to oranges. The last thing you want for your investment is an officer who is ill-trained and ill-prepared to handle the job for which they are tasked. There's no such thing as a free lunch. You will not see intentional, increased OCSO presence unless there's an arrangement and arrangements with the OCSO costs money, The average training period for a new officer with almost all respectable departments is 6 months.Anything less and you're flushing your money down the drain. As a resident of this city, I see you all whining day after day after day on here about the neighborhoods. Neighborhoods this, neighborhoods that. It's a 24 hour day - the CBD issue is what, 3 days a week for 3 hours on average? How about we give our department a chance to do what we voted on and field the new officers?

ReplySeal up the mountain, flush the subs & bombers, we're at WhineCon 1. 40 pound backpack? Possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. What about the kids who walked to school? They have these things called boots, coats, hats and gloves for use during these occasions. 4 out of 5 Doctors agree that these items, when worn correctly, will keep your child warm. I'm also sorry that in the middle of a Michigan Winter, you were required to drive in a couple inches of slush on the side roads. The main roads were all clear. Barely a touch of slush on them. I know...I drove my kids to school in this "Terrible fog" and "couple inches of slush".

ReplyMr. Lewis-Lakin should be applauded for keeping school in session today. There was absolutely no reason, whatsoever, to cancel school today. A few inches of slush does not qualify as a cataclysmic event worthy of keeping kids home, away from their school work, while parents scramble to make arrangements.Too often districts play follow the leader when it comes to their decision making and today shows that Mr. Lewis-Lakin is not part of train of thought.

ReplySerious people: look up the term "sentencing guidelines" and get back to me before you continue to speak your silliness regarding the penalty.

My favorite part was the one where he discussed spending more than we have, raising the national debt another 6 trillion and being term-limited.

The last time I was in the place it smelled like a combination of dirty dishwater and raw sewage and the employees had the table-side etiquette of Genghis Khan. Can't possibly get any worse.
