What Roads Are On the Genoa Township Road Millage?

Brighton voters will be asked to approve a 15 year, 1.5 mill increase to fund a number of road improvement projects throughout the township.

According to the Genoa Township website, development of a master plan took numerous meetings between Township staff, leaders from LCRC and HRC to review locations of potential roadway’s that were in need of improvement. 

The scope of the various desired roadway improvements were also reviewed. 

The list below summarizes the locations of the roadway improvement projects in priority order, the desired year of construction for each site and the engineers opinion of probable costs for each.

  • Crooked Lake Road set for 2014 at a cost of $2,800,000
  • Latson Road set for 2014 at a cost of $1,850,000
  • Beck Road set for 2015 at a cost of $2,950,000
  • Conrad/Challis Roads set for 2015 at a cost of $1,925,000
  • Challis/Bauer Intersection set for 2015 at a cost of $2,100,000
  • Herbst Road set for 2016 at a cost of $3,900,000
  • Cunningham Lake and Bauer Roads set for 2016 at a cost of $3,650,000
  • Bauer Road set for 2016 at a cost of $1,250,000
  • Hughes Road set for 2016 at a cost of $2,550,000
  • Grand total amount of $22,975,000
On Nov. 5, voters will be asked to approve a 15 year, 1.5 mill increase to fund a number of road improvement projects throughout the Township. If the proposal is approved, a home with a market value of $200,000 and a State Equalized Value (SEV) of $100,000 would pay $150 per year.
