Hookah Lounge Provides Oasis in Brighton

Designed with comfort and relaxation in mind, the new Oasis Hookah Lounge in Brighton offers a new alternative for patrons seeking a low-key hang out perfect for catching up with friends or catching up on work. 

With free, unlimited Wi-Fi, more than a dozen TV's and plenty of seating space, the spacious lounge, which opened in June, is similar to a coffee type setting and fills a need for many local customers.

"We see a ton of students in here, working on projects or homework," longtime Brighton resident and owner Al Awn said. "They just come in and hang out for hours."

With other locations in places such as Ann Arbor or Livonia, Awn said he saw a need to provide a hookah lounge closer to home and said he is happy to provide his community with the new addition that provides an alternative to a traditional bar setting.

"We love Brighton," Awn said. "We love the people here-- they're very genuine and sincere and it's avery safe neighborhood which is what I like and so far, everything has been perfect."

With 45 different types of tobacco to choose from, creative recipes such a pumpkin pie mint, are mixed on site and typically last for at least an hour, according to Awn, and have a price range from $10 to $30.

And while many of his customers may be familiar with how a hookah pipe works, Awn said he and his staff are quick to provide tutorials and help for first-time visitors as well.

"We've only been open for a few weeks, but we're already known for our service, which is what I want," Awn said. "I love hearing the feedback that people are so happy with us."

While no food is served on the premises, customers are able to buy small snacks provided or even bring in their own meals.

"Some people even have pizza delivered here which is fine," Awn said. 

The Oasis Hookah Lounge is located at 10010 E. Grand River in Brighton and is open Mon.- Sun, 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Check the Facebook page for daily deals and Happy Hour specials.
