2014 New Celebration Planned for Brightonians of All Ages

Planning for the July event is going on now.

The 2014 Brighton COmmunity REunion (CORE) Weekend is the first annual community wide reunion to celebrate Brighton’s glorious past, present and future. This inaugural event will debut on the weekend of July 18-20. The Brighton COmmunity REunion offers numerous community wide family events as well as an alumni dinner, golf outing, street dance and other attractions in and around Brighton.

“It’s time to create an all-inclusive community event that all generations of Brightonians can enjoy”, says Bev Barber Barton, who is spearheading the planning committee, “The Brighton COmmunity REunion is for everyone who calls Brighton home. This is a wonderful place to live and we wish to celebrate the history, pride and charm of Brighton.”

The genesis of the Brighton CoRe idea sprung from an “All Class” downtown party organized by Dan Collins and Bev Barton the evening prior to their Class Reunion in the summer of 2013. It was so well attended and so enjoyable for all, that expanding on the idea seemed inevitable.

“Class reunions are always great fun, of course”, says Collins, “but the hometown experience is really about all the people you grew up with, from other classes, neighbors, teachers, coaches, mentors, and all who we connect with along the way. This is a great way to embrace all of that, and I am delighted to be helping expand on the CORE idea for July 2014 and beyond.”

Brighton CORE Events will begin Friday, July 18 and continue throughSunday July 20. We encourage class reunions or family reunions to meet as a group in between the weekend festivities. Everyone can celebrate the spirit of the Brighton area and the pride CORE promotes by joining in a number of events including a golf outing, 5K, picnic and tours of BAS and grounds, plus live music and dancing in the streets on Friday and Saturday evenings.
