Island Lake Rec Area Volunteer Workday

Lend a hand in restoring an oak barrens by cutting and hauling invasive shrubs from, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at  Island Lake Recreation Area. This area should have scattered native trees and shrubs but non-native, invasive shrubs like buckthorn, honeysuckle and autumn olive threaten to shade out the native species. Meet at the Riverbend Picnic Area parking lot.

Please remember to wear appropriate clothing for outdoor work including long pants and closed-toe shoes and to bring drinking water! We will have work gloves, but feel free to bring your own if you have them.
