ArtVentures Celebrates 25 Years in Business

The downtown Brighton business will hold an anniversary party on Thursday, Oct. 11 from 6-9 p.m.

Brighton residents Mark Gougherty his wife, Claudia Roblee are celebrating a milestone this year - 25 years in business.

ArtVentures has provided corporate and private clients quality artwork and custom framing since opening in 1987.

Gougherty said the key to the longevity of the business is diversity.

“We have a commercial end to our business also with many corporate clients that have been with us for a long time and we are constantly cultivating new clients both commercial and retail,” he said.

Roblee added, “Our business is so interesting to us because of the diverse clientele that we do have. We have done national projects for Ford and Chrysler, curated art and did the framing for many Michigan corporations, and have done framing for many local restaurants and office buildings. It’s all about relationship building.”

ArtVentures has experience framing unusual objects such as Native American artifacts, kimonos, wedding invitations with the wedding bouquet and even a Led Zeppelin guitar.

Roblee said she and Gougherty have enjoyed the opportunity to work together, to be creative, but the thing they have enjoyed most is interacting with clients.

"Each client that walks in our door brings with them a story around their piece to be framed," she said. "So we have been able to get to know them through their stories. We've seen their kids grow up through their photos and now their kids are bringing their children's photos in to be framed. They’ve shared the trips they’ve taken through the art and photos they brought back. They shared their pride when we framed their fathers' artifacts from the war, or when we framed their own or their children's diploma or sports achievement memorabilia. They’ve shared their excitement when they brought that first piece in to be framed after moving into a new home, or having a renovation done. They’ve shared their joy when they framed their wedding photo or new baby photo."

Gougherty and Roblee will host an anniversary party on Thursday, Oct. 11 from 6-9 p.m. at ArtVentures in downtown Brighton.

The anniversary party will feature refreshments and special prizes, including a $300 gift card toward custom picture framing.
