Brighton Business Spotlight: Essentials Salon & Spa

When the owner of the popular Essential Elegance Salon & Spa in Howell was looking to expand into a second location, Brighton was the obvious choice.

opened in April in the Green Oak Village Place Mall. The Howell location has been open since 2008.

"This was a great location with a great opportunity because touches both east and west side our our clientele - so it's client convenience," Manager Denise Drewno said.

Essentials, much like its Howell counterpart, offers a variety of services including haircare, massage, nail care, skin care such as waxing and spa packages.

Drewno said the salon uses top product lines to support its knowledgable staff, who are constantly taking classes and workshops to stay current in their field.

Essentials is the only salon in Livingston County that carries the brand Kerastase, L'Oreal's exclusive line of haircare products.

"Only the top 10 percent of salons in the U.S. are approved to carry that line," Drewno said. "So we feel like we're bringing a new product into Livingston County."

Essentials offers plenty of packages like Martini Manicure Parties. Groups can call and book parties to have manicures and pedicures while the salon will serve complimentary drinks.

Since the pedicure stations contain curtains on either side, it lends to the illusion of privacy.

"It's nice to do a bachelorette or birthday party to have the private areas," Drewno said. "Ladies love it. They get together and then head out to lunch or dinner. It's a fun night out."
