Oh My Lolli Launches New Gourmet Syrup Line

It's a well-known secret that quite a few Oh My Lolli customers love to dissolve their favorite hard candy flavors in coffee and even in adult beverages to sweeten their drinks.

It's what gave Owner Keith Karp the idea to branch out from hard candy to include Simple Syrups.

After working on the recipe for more than two months, Oh My Lolli will unveil its new product line of gourmet syrups to flavor coffee, hot chocolate, adult beverages, soda water, shaved ice and more on Thursday night, during Ladies Night Out from 6-10 p.m.

"We had clients that were using our candy in adult beverages - putting Pomegranate Lemonade and infusing it with vodka or rum, and that just sparked the idea that we could make this into a syrup that you could use for flavoring coffees, adult beverages and more," Karp said. "I know there's been a few customers that crush up our Chili Lime and rim a glass with that to make a martini. We have a martini on the menu at Downtown Main. There's been a lot of interest as far as that goes. And we have endless possibilities of flavors."

Karp will be offering samples of his Peppermint and Cream syrup in coffee or martinis as well as discounts during Ladies Night Out.

Oh My Lolli's Simple Syrups stay true to the business' allergen free concept. Karp said he uses the same ingredients to make the syrups as he does his hard candies, but at different ratios. And he gets to cut corn syrup out.

"The only allergen we haven't been able to get around, because we're very proud to be allergen free with nuts, dairy, soy, gluten - all of those - is the corn syrup. With this, it allowed us not use the corn syrup - just cane sugar, water and natural flavorings and colorings."

Karp said he wanted a gourmet product, not just another Simple Syrup that you can buy anywhere.

"If you look at a lot of the other ones out there, there's a lot of preservatives and stuff like that," he said. "Ours is going to be a little more concentrated and as healthy as Simple Syrup can be."

Most Simple Syrup bottles are 25 ounces with a serving size of one ounce. Karp said his bottles will be 17 ounces, but since his syrups pack a little bit of a "flavor punch," they should be used in half ounce servings. So his bottles will have a total of 34 servings.

Karp said he thinks the syrups will be a huge hit and is even looking into adding a small slushie machine next summer and having a flavor of the day with the new product.

With more than 80 different flavors in any combination, Oh My Lolli can personalize and customize any Simple Syrup order - just like it does for its hard candy.

"One of the big things we offer is the opportunity to personalize flavor and color," Karp said. "It makes us standout from the mass produced stuff."

Karp said he plans to have about 12 to 15 syrup flavors int he store at a time, and rotate new ones through.

"It's a new frontier if you will - I'm excited to see where it goes," he said.
