Pride and Detail Keys to New Brighton Pet Grooming Business

Making pets look beautiful is a special job that requires attention to detail and a great love of animals, which is what the two new co-owners of Underdogs Pet Salon say is the goal of their new business.

Opening their location at 5050 S. Old U.S. 23 in Brighton last month, Rachel Nuechterlein and Mary Chavez are bringing their more than 35 years of grooming experience to the community along with the knowledge of what makes their shop special.

"We're just incredibly detailed-oriented and want them (pets) to look their best," Nuechterlein said. "Even if the customer doesn't know what their looking at, we know."

Moving beyond the basic services of bath, brush and nails Nuechterlein says taking pride in the work they see walking out their doors is the biggest priority at Underdogs and is what makes her and Chavez different.

While Nuechterlein admits that branching off on their own is a "little scary," partnering with her longtime co-worker as well as having the opportunity to set themselves apart from their competition is the most exciting part of their new adventure.
