Banana Boat Recalling Aerosol Sunscreens After Reports of People Catching on Fire

There have been five reports of people catching fire after using the sunscreens.

According to a report by 6ABC, Banana Boat is recalling a line of its spray on products after reports of people catching on fire after applying the sunscreen.

According to the Huffington Post, 23 varieties of Banana Boat UltraMist is being pulled from store shelves "due to the risk that the lotion can ignite when exposed to open flame," said the 6ABC report.

There have been five reports of people catching on fire after applying the sunscreen. The company says the problem is with the spray valve, which is over applying the product and not drying properly. The lotion can ignite when it comes in contact with an open flame.

According to the report in the HuffingtonPost, 'UltraMist's label warns users: "Do not use in the presence of a flame or spark. Keep away from sources of ignition – no smoking.'"

Consumers who purchased the products are being urged not to use them and more information can be obtained from the manufacturer at 1-800-SAFESUN.
