Brighton Woman Announces Run for Brighton City Council

Brighton resident Shanda Willis announced her candidacy for a seat on the Brighton City Council.

Shanda Willis has officially filed to run for a seat on the Brighton City Council.

As the result of her experience running for State House, Willis, through engaging the citizens of Brighton, learned of citizens’ concerns literally at their doorsteps. Joining the Brighton Chamber of Commerce has raised her awareness of the local business communities need for responsive and transparent government.

Following her appointment to the Brighton Arts and Culture Commission and ongoing attendance at City Council meetings, Willis realized that her desire to serve a community she has been a part of her whole life can be fulfilled as a member of the Council.

Willis, who attended Brighton High School, graduated in 1994 from the University of Michigan as an RN practicing in pediatrics and women’s health.

Adding to the practical experience gained at the U of M Medical Center she is now a Nurse Case Manager working with individuals who have been catastrophically injured in auto accidents.

With the public’s support in November she will apply her skills and experience clearly and honestly, use her organizational building abilities to set good public policy and effect solutions that serve the citizens and the long term needs of our city.

“I’ve met and engaged many wonderful and caring individuals in Brighton, my home, and look forward to serving them as a member of our Council.”
