Brighton High School Varsity Softball went 2-1 at the Frankenmuth Tournament on Saturday.

Brighton defeated Pine River 11-5 in the first game. Brighton scored in the top of the first inning when junior Katelyn Scrivano hit up the middle. The lead disolved as the Bucks scored two points in the bottom of the first inning. It wasn't till the fourth inning when Scrivano and senior Sarah Goodwin both recorded hits and were drove in by sophomores Lindey Myers and Meghan Pierce that Bulldogs recaptured the lead that they would not relinquish.

The second game saw the Bulldogs play the 2011 state runnerup, Frankenmuth Eagles. Brighton junior Marissa Isaac played outstanding, but in the end the Eagles were just too much, blanking the Bulldogs 8-0.

Despite getting blanked, the bulldogs never lost the edge and kept battling until the last out. Senior Jordin Meadows pitched for Brighton in the loss.

The third and final game saw the Bulldogs come out fired up and wanting to end the day on a winning note.

Isaac got things going with a slap single and two stolen bases. Scrivano saw her productive hitting continue by going 2-3 in the contest. Myers went 3-3, knocking in two runs while Goodwin and Pierce added triples.

But it was sophomore Ciara Darkangelo's grand slam home run that capped off the 10 runs Brighton put up.

Not to be out-done, pitching ace Silvesrti took the mound and over-came a quadriceps pull to throw a perfect game, 15 batters, 15 outs in which 7 of those were recorded as strikeouts. This outstanding performance capped off the day and took the bulldogs to a 9-5 record overall.
