1. The weather

A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon, according to the National Weather Service. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 104. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Tuesday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • , 8650 W Grand River Ave: $3.59

3. 4th of July Bike Decorating Contest

Kids ages 0-10+ are welcome to join the Brighton Optimist Club at the annual Decorated Bike Contest and ride in the 4th of July Parade today at 8:30 a.m. .  Awards are given for best decorated bike/wheeled vehicle of all kids in various age categories. All children MUST wear a Helmet AND be accompanied by an adult.  The parade ends near Brighton High School so plan pick up accordingly.

4. Independence Day Parade

The Brighton Independence Day Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. beginning at the , continuing down Main Street to the high school. Immediately following the parade will be the famous "duck race" on the Millpond.
