Good Morning Brighton - BHS Leadership Class

Check out the weather, fuel prices and more for Feb. 23, 2012.

Here are five tidbits of news and information we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

And remember, always included in this Monday-Friday feature is a video from someone wishing everyone "good morning" as part of a message to our community. Today's message comes from Brighton High School Leadership Class members.

1. The weather

Today will be mostly cloudy, with a 40 percent chance of rain and snow after 2 p.m., and a high near 38 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There will be snow tonight, with an accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible, and a low around 30 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Wednesday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

  • BP, 9400 Lee Rd: $3.47
  • Costco, 6700 Whitmore Lake Rd: $3.57

3. Polar Bear Pub & Shop Crawl

Downtown Brighton will host the Polar Bear Pub & Shop Crawl to benefit the Special Olympics of Michigan today from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Visit any participating store or restaurant and pick up your punch card. When you either make a purchase or a donation in any participating business, receive a punch for that business. Once you have received eight punches, drop your card off with one of those businesses.  You will be entered to win on of the many prizes donated by the stores and restaurants.  Drawing will be help at Downtown Main Martini Bar & Grille at 10pm. Need not be present to win.

4. Live Band Karaoke

Jameson's Irish Pub and Grill will host live band karaoke tonight from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Live out your rock 'n roll fantasy by performing live band karaoke with the band Double Take.

5. Trivia

This is the first year the Brighton Polar Plunge will be held in Brighton. Where was it held before this?
