1. The weather

Today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 80 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m., and a low around 61 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Thursday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

3. Senior Center Pancake Breakfast

The Brighton Senior Center, located inside the , will host a Pancake Breakfast today from 9:30–11:30am. Cost is $5 per person and includes pancakes, sausage, fruit, orange juice and coffee. All proceeds benefit the Brighton Senior Center. For more information, call 810-299-3822.

4. Intro to Night Skies

will host Intro to Night Skies today at 8 p.m. Join in for an evening of star-gazing, planet-identifying, and constellation-finding at this special event sponsored by the University Lowbrow Astronomers of Ann Arbor. They'll be setting up their telescopes and providing instruction on how to locate the various celestial beings of the night sky.  Make sure to bring any questions you may have about becoming an astronomy buff.

No registration is required; just show up!  A Recreation Passport is required for vehicles entering the park.  The Recreation Passport has replaced motor vehicle permits for entry into Michigan state parks and is available when renewing your license tabs at the Secretary of State or any park office.
