Highland Man Sentenced in Mother's Murder, Woman Using Photography to Help Rescue Animals

1. A Highland man was sentenced in his mother's murder, reported the Oakland Press.

2. The Kids Count in Michigan Data Book 2012 found that Livingston County's child poverty rate increased 53 percent and students getting free or reduced lunches increased 84 percent from 2005 to 2011, reported Livingston Daily.

3. A Northville School Bus slid off the road Tuesay morning and into a tree, but neither the 18 students on board or the driver were injured, Northville Patch reported.

4. White Lake Patch posted a great story about an area woman who is using photography to help animal rescues.

5. Trach collectors found two parakeets, one alive, in a cage on the curb in West Bloomfield, reported Click on Detroit.
