White Lake Man Returns to 'Survivor' in September, Holly Township Woman Dies in Fire

1. White Lake resident Michael Skupin will return to Survivor as a cast member in the reality show's 25th season, CBS Detroit reported. Skupin appeared on Survivor: Australian Outback in 2001 and was the first-ever medical evacuation on the series due to severe burns received after passing out into a fire from smoke inhalation on Day 17.

2. A 72-year-old Holly Township woman died after her two-story farmhouse caught fire, according to the Tri-County Times.

3. Hartland Consolidated School administrators had a . The account featured a former administrator's photograph and inappropriate tweets, Hartland Patch reported.

4. The Michigan Lottery announced Don Lawson as the owner of the winning $337 million Powerball ticket, sold at the Odish Family Market and Sunoco gas station in northern Lapeer, the Flint Journal reported. It's the biggest prize given out in Michigan Lottery history, and Lawson selected the cash option of $224 million.

5. Fake coyote statues have been set up on the beach on Thompson Lake at Howell City Park, which will remain closed the rest of the summer due to elevated E. coli levels due to fecal waste produced by geese that inhabit the area, Livingston Daily reported. Coyotes are a natural predator of geese.
