Balloonfest Pet Adoption Extravaganza

Want to lift the spirits of cats and kittens at Livingston County Animal Control?

How about adopting one at LCAC’s Up, Up and Away Adoption CAT-stravaganza from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 25?

“We are opening the shelter on a Saturday in hopes of capitalizing on the crowds attending Balloonfest,” said Debbie Oberle, LCAC director.  “We are in the midst of kitten season and the shelter is very full. We want to try to do everything we can to find homes for these felines, especially the adult cats, who are often overlooked at this time of year.”

To encourage adult cat adoptions, LCAC has partnered with Pet Supplies Plus of Brighton, Howell and Milford, specializing in discount pet and food supplies, to offer a special giveaway.

For every adult cat adopted Saturday, Pet Supplies Plus will provide a 16 pound bag of Friskies Grill Blend Dry Cat Food and two cans of Friskies wet food.

Refreshments will also be provided to people visiting the shelter on Saturday.

LCAC is continuing its special adoption rates for cats and kittens, as well. If you adopt one feline, you get the second for one dollar.  Cats are $90 and are spayed or neutered, microchipped, tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and up-to-date on their rabies and distemper vaccinations.

Kittens less than four months old are $80 and are also altered, tested, chipped and have age appropriate shots. The rabies vaccination cannot be given to kittens under four months of age.

LCAC is located at 418 S. Highlander Way, Howell, MI  48843.
