Fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital

A fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital takes place Feb. 26 at Homewood Suites, 8060 Challis Road in Brighton.

Patty Jordan, a Green Oak Township resident, said the event is sponsored by the Livingston County chapter as well as the Michigan State Council of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital; she is the Michigan State Council’s St. Jude coordinator.

The organization took on this fundraiser to support a great cause, Jordan added. St. Jude’s, located in Memphis, Tennessee, charges nothing to care for children with cancer from all over the United States. “It costs $1 million a day to run the hospital," she added.

Event activities include a Bunco party (a simple yet fun dice game) as well as a silent auction featuring numerous items donated by generous businesses, mostly from Brighton, Hartland and Howell, although The Henry Ford also donated four exhibit tickets.

Quilts and hats decorated with Disney characters are being auctioned off as well; in addition, prizes and refreshments also are available.
