Wading Through....

What a world these days! You wake to headlines about Greece, GM pension programs, home values, stock market up, stock market down, college tuition increases, health care costs... the list goes on and on.  

As I am in the insurance industry, you may not think those topics are intertwined with my world, but they sure are. Every financial move you make can affect your world at some point in life.  

Where do I fit in? One example. An acquaintance's recent death: a 72 year old that had $150,000 of permanent insurance. Wonderful that he had $150,000 as a death benefit for his spouse, but had he been with a different insurance/financial team 25 years ago, he may have had a $1 million death benefit. This dollar difference would have helped his spouse immensely as she's 15 years younger and can't receive social security benefits yet. Their asset values are down and the additional funds would have gone a long way.

What's in it for you? Possibly a lot. In our much later years, if we realize we could have had hundreds of thousands of dollars more in our world, would that make a difference to you? To your spouse? To your family? To charities and such?  

Be sure that you have that team (insurance person, attorney, financial person, CPA) that can help you wade through such things. It takes some time, some thought, some planning, but you can optimize your situation.
