New Chapter Begins at Brighton Patch

New Brighton Patch editor Nicole Krawcke introduces herself and a few new features.

The last two weeks of my life have been filled with excitement and anticipation after learning that I would become the new Brighton Patch editor.

As a Michigan State University graduate, Brighton was always a place to stop to watch a movie or do some shopping while on the way to or from school.

As the new editor, I'm looking forward to getting to know Brighton better. I will be attending , and meetings. I will also be visiting local businesses and talking to owners and residents.

I am also apartment hunting in the area. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Over this week and next, I will slowly take over the reins of Brighton Patch from Jessica Nunez, Associate Regional Editor for Michigan who somehow managed to fulfill her regional editor duties, keep Brighton Patch on track and up to par and take care of her new daughter, Sonya!

How she managed to do it all will never cease to amaze me, so I want to thank her for all she has done for both Brighton Patch and me, as I transition into my new role.

As I transition into my new role, Brighton Patch will also transition. Some of the new things readers will see are:

  • 5 Things You Might Have Missed Last Week: We know that sometimes stories are missed, especially on days that have a lot happening. That's why we will have a weekly story recap every Sunday.
  • Good Morning, Brighton: Every Monday through Friday at 6 a.m., we'll tell you the weather forcast, local gas prices and events happening that day. We'll also feature a person with community ties wishing Brighton a good morning. Check out an example on Hartland Patch's site:  http://patch.com/A-lHXV
  • Athlete of the Week: We will be looking for student athletes to recognize in an occasional feature story. If you know someone, nominate them! The person does not need to be the team star. We want to hear about the student trainer or the equipment manager!

If you have any story tips/suggestions, know of a standout student athlete or want to participate in Good Morning, Brighton, contact me at nicole.krawcke@patch.com or 517-488-5886.

And if you see me on the street or working on my computer in one of Brighton's many coffee shops, don't hesitate to stop and chat!
