Wedding venue that reflects our values?

We posed this question to the editors of the Brighton Patch and they suggested we send it onto you, the readers!

My fiance and I are long-distance planning a wedding for the summer of 2014 in the Brighton/Ann Arbor/general driving distance area.  We are very intentional about how and where we spend money as we see every dollar spent as a vote of support for that entity (e.g. local food, local retail, etc).  In looking for a  venue in the area, accommodating 250 for our humongous family, we have run up against mostly 'corporate' options that simply are not a good fit.  We are wondering if anyone knows of a quality environmental location / charity / great cause that would benefit from us using their space for a day.  A prior employer of mine here in Indianapolis, for example, rented their grounds and the rental fee went toward sending high risk youth to summer camp.  I have worked in non-profits my entire career and hope to find something like this in that area, but the internet is not always the best search option for that.  We consider spending money as a reflection of our values, and while we do not have much, we would like what we do spend to be used for positive things in the hometown that raised me.   Thank you kindly for your time.  Suggestions are most welcomed!
