Crime Report: Car Window Shatters Suspiciously While at Stop Light
The following information was supplied by the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
On Tuesday, a Brighton man reported that the front passenger window of his car shattered while stopped at a light at M-59 and Old US-23 in Hartland Township while on his way home.
According to a police report, the man said that while he was waiting at the light, the window of his 2010 Jeep Patriot just shattered, but that he never saw any motions toward his car as if something was thrown.
There was a hole in the window, which made the man think something was thrown through it he told police. Police searched the inside of the car, but could not find anything that could have been thrown through the window.

Laptop stolen from car
On May 5, a Hartland Township man on the 1000 block of Thorn Ridge Dr. reported that between 6 p.m. May 1 and 8 a.m. May 2, his company laptop was stolen from the company car he drove home from work.
According to a police report, the car was left unlocked overnight. The report said the that the laptop had software designs for the man's company stored on it. It is valued at about $1,500.

The laptop's serial number was entered in as stolen.
Attempted break in
On May 5, a Fenton woman on the 6000 block of Center Rd, reported damage to her garage door.
According to a police report, the woman noticed the garage door damaged at 10:30 a.m. and had last seen it undamaged at 12:30 p.m. on May 4. The report said that the woman was awakened during the night around 12 a.m. from her dog barking, but didn't see anything after looking out the window.
Police said the garage is unattached and that the walk through door had a cracked wood casing and metal shell that was bent outward. There were no marks on the door, the weather stripping around the door or on the paint on the door casing.
Nothing was missing.
Credit card frauds
On May 4, a Hartland Township woman reported that her credit card had been used to purchase a laptop at Office Max.
According to the police report, the woman was contacted by Office Max to verify that she made an online purchase for a laptop for $637.34 that was to be shipped to an out-of-state address listed on her card. The woman cancelled the order and then her credit card.
The report said two other charges were also on the credit card: one to PayPal and another to Groupon for $1 each.
The woman still had possession of her credit card and does not know how the information got out.
On May 1, a Deerfield Township woman reported that someone attempted to use her credit card at Shutter Stop.
According to a police report, the woman was contacted on April 26 by Chase Bank and told that someone had attempted to use the card online for $500.
The woman said she did not notice any other charges that were not hers. The credit card was cancelled.
Lawn mower, tools stolen
On April 27, an Howell Township man reported a break in at the shed on his property on the 2000 block of N Latson Road.
According to a police report, the man said he had locked the shed on April 25 and when he returned, the handle to the garage door was in an odd position and his key would not work.
The man's Ex-Mark lawn mower and several power tools were stolen
