Wrong-Way Driver on I-96 to be Charged By State Police

The 19-year-old man from Lansing is in the hospital with two others after a vehicle he was driving the wrong way down I-96 collided with two other vehicles.

The Michigan State Police are looking to charge the man on Wednesday, hitting two vehicles and sending himself and two others to the hospital.

The State Police want to charge him with fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing police and possibly other charges. His arraignment is pending release from the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor, and no one involved with the accident will be named until the arraignment is set. The Livingston Daily reported that the man to be charged is identified as a 19-year-old Lansing man.

The Livingston Daily published a first-hand account of the situation from State Trooper Rene Gonzalez. In the report, she said what started as a routine traffic stop near the Flint Road overpass that day turned into chaos. He said originally pulled over the vehicle because he saw that the vehicle's owner had an expired license.
