Brighton City Hall Closed to Water Main Break

Due to the need to turn off water service at various extended times during today's repair process, Brighton City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

A water main break was discovered late Monday night, Jan. 6, in the City of Brighton municipal complex area near the intersection of North First Street and Cedar Street and next to the District Court building.

City officials anticipate being able to get the repair process, which will involve some underground excavation work, started later this morning. The City anticipates being able to complete the repair by approximately 6 pm on Tuesday.

Late last night, City of Brighton DPS-Utilities' crews were able to mitigate the problem by adjusting the water pressure at various nearby water line valves.

As of approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, all City water customers still have water service but residents and businesses near the North First Street, Cedar Street, East Walnut Street, and Mill Pond Lane may experience lower than normal water pressures until the repair is completed.

Due to the need to turn off water service at various extended times during today's repair process, Brighton City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The driveway leading from North First Street into the Municipal Complex parking lots is closed, however those parking lots can still be accessed via Mill Pond Lane.

City residents and or business owners who may be affected by this water main repair situation can contact either the City's DPS Office at 810-225-8001 or the City Manager's Office at 810.225.8022 or via email at citymgr@brightoncity.org at any time with questions.
