Brighton Library Hosts 'Moose on the Loose' Celebration

Friends and family are invited to read with a Moose on the Loose during the Michigan Reads! One State, One Children's Book program.

The Library of Michigan and the are pleased to announce the 2012 “Michigan Reads!” One State, One Children’s book winner Moose on the Loose by award-winning children’s author Kathy-jo Wargin and illustrated by John Bendall Brunello.

To celebrate, families and friends are invited to a special read-aloud of Moose on the Loose Friday from 10:15–11:15 am at the Brighton Library. Join us for silly songs, moose crafts and snacks, and receive a special gift.

Moose on the Loose follows the funny antics of a nosy moose who wanders into a boy’s house. What should the boy do? Should he read him a book? Teach him to cook? Dress him, chase him, or stand up to face him? Will he figure it out? By stories end, readers will know exactly what to do if a moose wandered into their house. The book is filled with clever rhyming text and colorful illustrations that are sure to captivate readers of all ages.

"Michigan Reads!" One State, One Children's Book program is sponsored by Target and in partnership with the Library of Michigan Foundation. The program is devoted to increasing early childhood literacy and pre-reading readiness for all children. Since its inception in 2004, the program goals have included; promoting the benefits of reading early and often to children, encouraging family bonding through reading and increasing awareness and usage of Michigan’s libraries as important resources for learning.
